To Headboard or Not to Headboard? This Is the Question.

For some reason, our bedroom is somewhere I've never really fixed. You'd think that would be the easiest part to decorate when you first move out of your parents home, but...for me, I've always seen my bedroom as a place to just sleep, and kept the decor out in the living spaces. For this reason, I've never felt good about pulling the trigger on a headboard, despite it being the one furniture piece that to me, says you're truly an adult for some weird reason.

Previously, the bed I had when I first moved out 4 years ago, and up until we moved into this place we currently live, was the IKEA Malm bed that had a headboard on it. So while it wasn't the upholstered, luxurious version that I had in my dreams that meant "adult status achieved", it did play the part.

Since we moved into this apartment, we've been without a headboard because I've kept meaning to pull the trigger. But, you know how it is, you need something "more important" first, you get an extra bill or expense, you decide you want to get your act together and save more money etc....something always seems to get in the way. SO, while I still do feel strongly about getting a headboard at some point (another post on that, and all of the selections) the question really is...to headboard or not to headboard?

Since this topic came into my head I've been researching bedrooms I love, and I was surprised to find one that I absolute drooled over that did not have a headboard! So, maybe it's something that I just think I need, but really don't!

Alright, now...what do you think? Are you a headboard for life kind of person? Do you have one? Is it not even on your radar and now you're questioning whether you do actually need a headboard? Welcome to the club, pal!
