New Year, New Style (Sort Of?)

If you had asked me about our place 6 months ago, I would have said “I’ve finally got it to a place that I love, and I feel like it’s all come together!”. But, if you have known me for longer than a minute, you know that that basically means nothing, because here I am - and frankly it probably began just a few weeks after that feeling - wanting to change basically everything.

I think my issue is that I appreciate A LOT of different styles. I love a well executed modern-farmhouse, I love a great bohemian space, I even lean into the heart eyes emoji in some well-done traditional homes. So, I have a hard time settling on what exactly is MY style. Or what exactly I want to be surrounded with when I’m at home.

So, just for fun, here are a few of the different looks I’ve had in my living room over the past 2 years:

So, as you can see - it’s had a lot of transition in a short amount of time! And through experimenting with all of these different styles, I’ve realized how I want my place to feel. I found that my personal taste was changing as we continued to live here, and as I grew as a person. I think too, for some reason, after we got married, it made me want to “nest” a little bit more. Think about our style as a couple, and the style of our “future homes” together. So, this is what I have been drawn to lately - of course these are pipe-dream style homes, but maybe….one day?? A girl can dream!

So, I feel like while these are obviously all different homes, with different people who live in them and love them - I am definitely leaning more towards a modern, traditional while still art-deco style of home. I’ll admit that this is a lot of different things, but I’m excited at the venture of trying to figure it all out.

We live in a small apartment that doesn’t have any notable architecture - so I think it would be a little weird to go totally all out with a style like this - as this is really classy and fancy, and I do think you need to have the bones of a place to make it totally work - BUT there are ways I can incorporate it into our place, without it looking really out of sorts. So, anyway, enough of my rambling, I’ll show you what my plans are:

I have to apologize to you guys about all of the “similar” links - in between we writing this blog post and posting it, some things have sold out! If you have any specific questions, or are looking for the actual source for the one that I purchased or have shown above, let me know!

Any thoughts? I haven’t purchased all of the items - so some are subject to change - and I am hesitant on the amount of warm tones and “beige” I’m bringing in - I feel like “beige” has been sort of a taboo word in the design world for a while, haha - but lately, I’ve just been drawn to warm things. And I guess that’s what crafting a home is all about. Creating a space that feels good TO YOU. So, thats what I’m feeling lately, so thats how it will continue!

What about you? What are you craving in your home for 2019? Any big changes or projects?
