Inside My Current Wardrobe

After I posted about how my Marie Kondo journey left me with literally (not quite) nothing in my closet, I think I had the most messages EVER, from you guys! Who knew this would be such a relatable topic?!

SO, I’ve had some requests to find out what exactly HAS been left in my closet, and Iike, when I tell you not much, I literally mean that! This post is severely overdue, as I originally shared the Marie Kondo article MONTHS ago, but for some reason I felt uncomfortable sharing this. But, I’m choosing to look past that and post it anyway.

So, let’s dive into what is actually left in my wardrobe, after the clear out of 2019:

The one area where I am severely lacking is tops - as you can see! Keep in mind, I do have a few black cami’s that I did not count as “part of my wardrobe” just because I thought that would look like I have a weird affinity for tank tops - I do not. But it’s worked out alright for now, just because I have been rotating them in with my THREE tee shirts (one is actually a flowy tank top), and just layering over sweaters - plus, I work at home and like, rarely go out (#introvertlife!) so it’s really not been a major issue.

So, without further ado - this is where we are at:

This of course does not include like, a few super loungey tops, athletic wear or sleep attire - I just sort of gave myself the guiding question of, “would I wear this out on a coffee date with a friend?”, and if the answer is no, then I put it in the “lounge only” pile, and even gave myself some limits there.

There were a few too many black tops that had gotten ratty from over the years, and I figured I don’t need more than 3 “lounge tops” so, I picked my favourite three and got rid of the rest.

So, this isn’t really an informational post but rather an update, or a precursor of what is to come. I have added a few things to my wardrobe since, but honestly, I haven’t had a ton of luck.

To be frank, being plus size really doesn’t help. I find that plus-size brands are either too out there, or riské to suit my style personality (and I’m applauding that, don’t get me wrong, it’s just not my thing), or old fashioned and full of bedazzles and asymmetrical hem lines. Neither of which lure me in. I just want stylish basics. Honestly, I just want to dress like a fat Ashley Kane - is that possible??

If you’re plus sized, and feeling similarly to me, I’d love to hear from you. Maybe we can share our resources and favourite items. I need help!!
