I'm Obsessed with Mules and Now You Can Be Too.

When I was in grade 10, I had 36 pairs of shoes. I remember,  because I counted and I was SO proud of that fact. These shoes - just as a caveat - were like, all > $10 flats that came from the anywhere from H&M to the Salvation Army (yes, that was my range, both then and currently). Anyway, over time, those shoes got super gross (if you're a woman and you wear flats you know exactly the smell I'm talking about) and I got rid of some that I never wore and eventually I had very few shoes.

Since then I've really purchased shoes because I need to wear them but not for fun. But, there has been one style of shoe that has just rocked my world and made me someone who would now buy a new pair of shoes instead of a new lamp, which is someone I'm not sure I like? But here we are. That style, is the mule. For some reason, I just adore them. I can't tell you why, but I will tell you which ones are my favourites.

A friend, who I was explaining my obsessed with "the mule" to, asked what the deal was, why do I love them so much? That's a great question and I'm here to make the case for the mule:

  • It's the perfect shoe for almost every season. Early Spring, Spring, Summer, Early Fall (depending on where you live, it could be all year!) are all perfect for the mule. Pair with jeans, a dress, shorts, you're good to go.
  • It's the perfect workplace alternative to a flip-flop. I don't know about you, but we're not allowed to wear flip-flops to our office, but we CAN wear a mule and nobody blinks an eye. It's business in the front and fresh air in the back.
  • They stay fresh (without that dreaded flat smell) for longer because of the extra ventilation which is a plus
  • AND, on top of all of this, they are mega cute.

So, without further ado, here are my favourite mules at a range of prices that I either actually own, wish I owned, or am hinting about wanting to own to my husband who definitely is not going to read this blog post.

I personally own two of the 7 pairs (number 1 and seven), and I LOVE them both. They have become my new favourite shoes, and I've since forgotten about all of my other shoes. Mules or bust, I say!
